Product Overview

What is the Electrolyte Powder?

The Electrolyte Powder is made up of the essential electrolytes; Sodium, Potassium, Calcium and Magnesium. These help to provide the electrical energy necessary for many functions within the human body, including nerve impulse transmission and myofibril contractions. When exercising, these nutrients are generally lost through sweating, especially when exercising in hot weather; excessive loss of electrolytes can severely impede performance.

Electrolyte Powder Benefits

The addition of electrolytes to a sports/carbohydrate drink can help maintain salt levels in the body and maintain proper hydration and enhance the absorption of water during physical exercise. A loss of just 2% of body weight through dehydration can dramatically impede and negatively affect your physical performance.

Who is Electrolyte Powder Suitable for?

Suitable for anyone taking part in intense, physical exercise where there is abundant fluid loss.

The dietary choices of all our customers are extremely important to us. Whilst this product is manufactured using ingredients and processing aids suitable for the vegan diet, please note that dairy powders are also used within the same production facility and cross contamination may occur at very small levels.

Please note that the labelling on this product is provided in English as a minimum. French, Italian, German, Spanish, Danish, Swedish and Finnish may also be present on a product by product basis.

Key Benefits

  • Contains all the essential electrolytes
  • Helps with rehydration especially in warm climates
  • Can enhance the uptake of water

Suggested Use

Add 500ml of water or fruit juice into our shaker. Then add 800 mg, shake and consume. Use 1 - 2 times daily.

Note: We advise that all servings are measured using an accurate set of scales. While we make every attempt to provide an accurate equivalent measure using our Myprotein scoops, these are only approximate and are not a substitute for using a standardised measuring device.

Do not exceed the stated recommended daily dose. This product is a food supplement and therefore should not be used as a substitute for a varied diet and a healthy lifestyle. Store in a cool dry place, out of the reach of young children.

I think this is an essential - especially if you sweat as much as I do (Niagara Falls of the forehead anyone?). Mix it with bog standard Robinson's squash and you effectively have a cheaper and better version of many of the 'Isotonic' drinks on the market. Also great for hang-overs I should add...

This Electrolyte powder is awesome! There is a salty taste however that's the nature of electrolytes and when mixed with orange juice it is unnoticeable.

"Great product. Those that say it doesn't mix are using too much powder, from personal experience 1 gram mix well even in cool water (which has a lower saturation point). As for the taste, most think it's disgusting on here but for some reason I have no issue with the taste-all electrolyte powders taste the same anyway. If using squash that's quite sour this powder actually makes the taste more neutral and easier to drink. Must buy for those that sweat a lot during exercise, I think electrolytes are more essential than protein itself. Nearly. No side-effects whatsoever!"

Superb product, mixes well, yes it tastes a little salty but it does compose of various salts and minerals so its to be expected. one level scoop of the micro scoop provided mixed well into to a pint of Robinsons Lemon Barley made the drink slightly salty but nowhere near as unpleasant as some of the drama queens on her would have you believe. Now completely cramp free whilst working my way through various crossfit circuits, beats the likes of powerade lucozade hands down!

Sweat loss means loss of salts (electrolytes). Salts are required for efficient performance. This product has the right ingredients (i'm no chemist but I did my homework), mixes well and tastes as it should (it's salt, of course it's salty). Apparently an average sweat loss per hour is 0.5-2.0L. Apparently an average litter of sweat lost has 2.6g of salts. I know I sweat more than those numbers, and I know that I get headaches if I don't hydrate properly, and by that I mean adding electrolytes to my drinks, whether during or after the workout. I haven't nailed down the amounts I should use because i'm scared to add 5g of salts for every hour that I work out, and I know that the food I'll eat will likely make up for a lot of the salts lost in the first place, but so far I've been adding a little scoop (the one that comes with the bag) in every bike bottle I drink and this already goes a long way. Those bottles are 0.75L. I usually go through 1 bottle per hour when on the bike. More when working out in the (warm) gym doing circuits. Anecdotally, i also put 40-50g of sugars in each bottle (equal volume mix of fructose, palatinose and maltodextrin).

This product is a god send for me, I used to get really bad headaches after a morning workout. Without exageration, after the first time i used this the headaches have stopped and i dont feel as sluggish. Great product, if you sweat loads like me then id seriously recommend this product. BE WARNED: only use a small amount with juice, it does taste very salty. All round spot on.

I'm sweating quit alot during my training so I thought these electrolytes could be benefitable for me. But I'm actually not feeling any difference at all. Maybe it would be better to review this product during the summer, where it is more hot? Or maybe it's just better to consume during cardio (I'm doing strength exercise/bodybuilding)? Anyways, it didn't have any effect on me (not something I could feel).

Bought this as I always used to get headaches after particularly sweaty workouts like spin classes, so someone suggested I may benefit from adding electrolyte powder to my workout drink. Yes it's a bit salty but I just add a bit of squash and I actually quite like the taste, and as long as I keep properly hydrated throughout my workout my headaches are usually kept at bay.

I have been running long distances (10-15 miles) for the past few months, and always ended up with tight muscles or cramp in the evenings after exercise. I use this powder along with the electrolyte plus capsules and haven't had cramp since. For my longer runs, I mix the powder into my water bottle that I take with me. The taste is quite salty, but the powder is very effective a staving off cramp.

This is a staple for me. I struggle with feeling "foggy" mentally when I'm exercising, and electrolytes in general clear my head a lot more than water alone does. I find it much easier to use the right amount with powder than I do with electrolyte pills and in terms of palatability all it does is make water taste slightly more savoury, if that makes sense, which I actually rather like.

Brought this as an alternative to more expensive electrolyte tablets and used it for the first time this morning. Have suffered from headaches after long runs 1hr plus but used this powder in my water for a 10 mile run this morning and no headache so for me it does the job. Slightly salty taste but this is expected, not unpleasant though. For how much you actually need to use this is really good value for money.

Twice in my running career my body has lost too many electrolytes and I have been in serious trouble. I never want to go there again. Once was on the last day of the Marathon des Sables and the other was in the mountains of Tasmania. Hyponatremia is no joke but long before that stage of electrolyte imbalance, your performance is badly impaired. My Protein Electrolyte Powder is the prevention and the cure. The only problem is that it is so salty. Ha ha. Funny that! This formula is concentrated and so it is easy to put too much in your mix so that it is too salty. Once I had cut back to a much smaller amount I have had no problems and everything is good. Cruising on.

It needs some honey or good juice to balance out the saltiness.

I suffer from cramp in my hands, fingers, thighs, calves and feet, especially after intense exercise. I've tried various things in the past, but Myprotein's Electrolyte powder seems to do the trick with a 100% success rate so far! I have given the product a 4 because the taste isn't its best attribute, and it needs to be mixed in something you don't mind drinking. I currently have it in a cup of fruit tea made up of 500ml with cold water, 2 tsps of sugar and 1/4 tsp of electrolyte powder added.

Be very careful with this powder as it is possible to overdose on electrolytes. I added this to a few glasses of water the day of receiving and was violently sick for 4 days afterwards. When consulting the doctor, he believed taking this supplement was to blame. Apparently, higher overdoses can have severe consequences. So although this isn't a bad product in any sense, I just advise you to use with great caution.
