I have to admit that I read the other reviews of this product thoroughly before trying, and although there were a number of comments about poor mixability and one about taste I decided to give it a go. In 2.5 years of training & using protein products this is the first time I've had what I consider to be a failure. I just can't get on with the product for two main reasons. Sure I feel better great after I've managed to down it & I do believe that the protein is absorbed more efficiently, but for me it's just a no-go product. So what about it is so bad? Let's start with the flavour. I bought the chocolate flavour, as this has always worked well for me in the past no matter what type of protein I've had. In this instance it was probably the worst flavour I could've chosen. The shake doesn't taste very chocolatey at all, in fact there is a definite meaty taste to it - not to mention the after taste. The best mix I've managed has been using the remains of my orange & cinnamon workout drink as that just about masks the flavour while I'm drinking. But nothing can take away the after taste. I can only manage a portion of this if I have a flapjack, seed bar or something like a Nakd bar to quickly eat after it as that does mask the aftertaste to a manageable degree. The next problem is mixability. I have an MP shaker with the mixer ball which has worked with every protein powder I've used in the past, but is a complete failure with this particular protein. No matter what I try (adding a little water first to swell the protein, making it really watery, trying to make it thick) I just can't get it to mix. It foams up ridiculously & the foam seems to lock in the protein - so I end up with watery chocolate drink & over half a shaker of foamy protein - which just tastes rank! Sadly I bought a 2.5kg pouch so I have rather a lot of it to get through. Within 3 days I had ordered a 2.5kg pouch of Whey because I just can't handle this on a daily basis, let alone twice a day. I'm sticking with using it after my 2 hour sessions (Bootcamp, Spin & Body Pump) on a Saturday as it does help with recovery from such hard work, but I feel that's the only time I workout hard enough to be able to justify following up with a flapjack as I have to be very careful with my carb count. So in summary, it's a high quality protein which seems to help with muscular recovery (hence the 3 star overall rating), but it's a impossible to mix without making a really foamy drink & tastes awful. It's like drinking a sirloin steak mixed with a thin chocolate shake.Goes Well With:Nothing!
The taste of the shake is good e.g vanilla was plain and tasty as expected. The Mixture is very sticky when mixed with liquids so try not to spill. However, very poor mixability as i used both a filter and mixer in my shaker but gives me a very lumpy shake after a good 2-3 minutes of shaking. The actual content of the Carnipro is of high quality but its not worth the effort if using a regular shaker as it produces a lumpy outcome. I recommend buying a shaker with a blender in it if you continue to use Carnipro. Positives are that it can be used if suffering with mild-moderate acne or spots as it doesnt flair up at all, as it is dairy free unlike whey which can cause spots to form.
Due to my paleo lifestyle I am unable to use whey protein (and the fact my body hates dairy). I have used hemp and although enjoy the nutty taste it can be overpowering with reasonable but not large amount of protein content. I decided to give this new product a try (unflavoured) as it only contains the hydrolysed beef protein and xanthum gum - no sucralose sweeteners like the flavoured ones. I am very impressed. I added it to my morning chocolate smoothie (300ml almond milk, 1/2 avocado, 1 small banana, 1 tbsp linseed, 1 tbsp cashew nut butter, 2 tbsp cocoa powder). It did not change the taste at all, however bumped up the protein content 22g!
Don't understand all the bad reviews! I am using banana favour carnipro and I like it! I mix it with milk, Greek yogurt and fruit even use it for protein pancakes! and there is no horrible aftertaste. Mixability could be better but its not that bad honestly! And I do have a sensitive palette, for example I cannot drink peptopro! I would recommend the banana carnipro to everyone, and if your that worried buy a sample first, dont let these reviews put you off. Their very harsh in my opinion.Goes Well With:Milk, Greek yogurt, in pancakes
First of all i would like to thank you for making a product which helps people who have lactose intolerance. I bought banana flavour and i was worried because of many negative reviews. Taste is acceptable, its not good like the whey protein but its not THAT bad tasting neither. Its little artificial, but seriously if you buy protein just to taste good, buy yourself a chocolate or stick with whey. I am really long in this sport and this product will give you gains with increased intake together with balanced diet. Mixabillity is little worst then whey protein but its nothing special. I dont understand all this negative reviews, maybe too easy life when you complain about so trivial things and make them look far worst then they really are. The best option if you have any diary digestive problems.Goes Well With:Water or Milk
For a smooth, tasty and perfectly mixed shake follow these instructions to the letter! 1. 200ml water in the MP shaker (make sure the metal ball is inside) 2. 1 scoop of Carnipro 3. Shake the hell out of it until the powder is completely dissolved. 4. For those who want milk in the shake, add 100ml or more milk at this stage. For those who want water only, add 100ml or more of water at this stage. 5. Gently roll the shaker on it's side to mix the added liquid with the froth from before. 6. Let the shaker stand for 30 minutes. 7. Gently roll the shaker on it's side again. 8. Within a few more minutes the shake is ready to be consumed. 9. Thank me!
I follow a strict paleo diet (aip) so it's difficult to find a protein powder to fit in with that! I use the unflavoured mixed with a cup of coffee, tsp cocoa and 1/4 cup of coconut milk for a quick and easy breakfast everyday, delicious and keeps me full til lunch. The unflavoured is great for those who want to avoid artificial sweeteners, you could easily add in your own flavourings and sweeteners to taste.
I tried this protein as I like to mix up the Whey from time to time. The flavour isn't bad however it is close to impossible to mix this with anything short of an industrial blender. It just forms clumps which makes it pretty hard to stomach.
This powder clearly doesn't mix as well as others, but there is really no issue so long as you follow the instructions of one of the other reviewers. Start with 200ml water, put a scoop in, shake for a minute, add in milk (if using), shake some more and there's no lumps. The banana flavour is absolutely fantastic - exactly like Nesquik Banana - and I will probably order the exact same next time!
Very nice protein!!! Always my first choice from now on. For me better then the whey protein ;D
Whey protein makes me sick, this doesn't. It tastes decent however does not receive 5 stars only because it is not completely soluble in water. Effective however & does the job a winner in my eyes.
The unflavoured one doesn't taste very good, but it is unflavoured, so no right to complain ;-) However, the mixability of the product is awful, even when you mix it for 10 minutes there is still lumps and foam. I tried to bake it as well, it was a really bad idea. Indeed, my cookies stick to the baking sheet. But still it is a good product, because completely suitable for paleo diet and sugar free addict and very high in protein.Goes Well With:blended with fruits in a smoothie
Yes mix ability in the standard shaker is a problem, however a good blender with water and a few ice cubes sorts that issue out... Taste is delicious, can't fault the chocolate flavour. Definitely prefer this type of protein compared to whey and whey isolate, easier on my digestive system. Will keep on buying from now on.Goes Well With:A blender and Ice
I'm sure this has great nutritional benefit but it's such a pain to mix. I use a blender and normally mix 200ml skimmed milk with 2 scoups protein a banana and 150g frozen berries in a 600ml bottle and theres space left over. This stuff frothes and foams so much I cant get my full portions in and it mixes terribly, clumps and lumps and sticks to the side of the bottle. What normally takes me 5min to mix and drink is now taking 30min and 2 bottles. Terrible stuff, very disappointed.Goes Well With:Nothing drinkable. Might be ok in food?!?
I'm allergic to milk, so limited in my options for good quality high protein powders. The CarniPro offers a good alternative to whey proteins for me, with a better taste than the Vegan Blend. The CarniPro also causes a lot less bloating and burping than the Vegan Blend does for me. I've tried the vanilla, chocolate and banana flavours and find the vanilla to be the best. It has a strong flavour that covers up the aftertaste better than the banana or the chocolate (which actually doesn't taste very chocolatey and I wouldn't recommend). The protein does have its down sides as it's very sticky and prone to clumping, which means it doesn't have the best mixability. The vanilla flavour can be a bit overpoweringly sweet as well. However, I use a blender to mix my shakes, and the powder mixes perfectly well if you put the liquid in the blender and turn it on first, and then add the powder through the feeder as it's mixing. As I have a lot of Vegan Blend left, I also mix about half and half of each powder, which tempers the sweetness. It might not offer the best option for those that can have whey proteins, but for those that can't it is a solid alternative.Goes Well With:Milk
Just received my samples of this. Tried vanilla first. Mixed with 150 ml of almond milk, half a frozen bananas, a couple of grapes, and half a teaspoon of xanthum powder. Well....Firstly, I didn't realize the sample contained 2 servings, not one, so I obviously didn't use enough milk. Secondly- whoa. This made masses, my magi mix was practically full! It was unbelievably think, more like a very wet mousse! So I will try without adding my own xanthum powder and they right amount of milk next time. Very pleasantly surprised tho. It obviously thickens and mixes well. Tastes good. I did add my own canderel though but I always do that. I am used to slim fast which is delicious so I was expecting this to taste gross in comparison. This is definitely not as nice, but not too poor a substitute at all considering. I need to reduce my IGF-1 levels (hence cutting dairy) so I will be looking to buy a GMO free, hormone and antibiotic free version to make sure there's no bovine growth hormone in there. Please make one myprotein!!!! Goes Well With:Almond milk, banana
When i was on Whey Protein i noticed i would get terrible joint pains and muscle aches after a few weeks.................I can't have milk products. They don't agree with me. This stuff is great...Fantastic Amino Acid Profile. Ok people complain about the taste.....However...i buy the unflavoured, put several scoops into my smothie maker, a cup of Almond Milk or Coconut Milk Drink, 1 heaped teaspoon of raw organic chocolate powder, and a small bananna. WONDERFUL. Tastes fantastic Since taking Beef Protein i don't get joint/muscle pains. I actually get better recovery from it. Best mixing with electric blenders or smoothie maker for best mixability Its best to drink it freshly mixed..Don't leave it for a while as it will set & congeal. Its also great as a snack..............Mix two tablespoons into a bowl of yoghurt with a heaped tablespoon of ground flaxseeds and grated apple, chopped walnuts Great Protein to use for dieters....Makes you feel full, and reduces appetite And no!..... it does not taste of Beef Gravy. Like i said i like the unflavoured and add my own flavorings to it. Ive had the vanilla & Chocolate....... fine but too sweet for my liking Goes Well With:Almond, Soya, Coconut, Rice Milks.....Especially Superb with Oat Milk (nice and rich velvety textured shake) Yogurt...and probiotics
Using strawberry flavored Carnipro. Price is excellent and altough mixability isnt great it mixes well in normal shaker over 10 min. Just give it a little shake and leave to stand for a minute, then shake again. By the time you are out of the shower its ready! Also brilliant in smoothies. Very happy with taste too.
I am lactose intolerant so am always up for trying new non dairy proteins so purchased a 2kg bag of this to try when I found it! I wont be buying it again.. I have tasted some nasty proteins in my time but this was horrid. It doesn't mix and is very sticky and lumpy. I tried it in my oats and it left a gloopy sticky mass that I can only imagine trying to be digested in my gut.. it was like glue. The Vegan protein on here I rate highly but this is not worth it, it tastes horrid mixes terribly and there are much better options available. Goes Well With:The bin
I read a lot of the reviews for this product and have tried both banana and chocolate as a result. The key to this protein is that the powder is extremely fine like talcum powder so when you try and mix it it clumps up. However, i found it worse on chocolate than banana and always worse when mixing with milk instead of water. Once shaken i found the chocolate does eventually dissolve pretty much and any lumps are so small you can not taste/feel them. I would be tempted to heat some water/milk first then add the product as i think this will help, or just use a blender. Definitely can say not a bad taste so not sure if the product has changed since those reviews - tastes like many other powders so no worries there. Worth a buy but think about water or warm fluid mixing.
hi, this product alone tastes bad and is so so foamy but if you mix half a scoop of egg protein powder with one heaping scoop of beaf protein powder it makes the perfect shake when added with some nesquick to flavour it. For some reason when with the egg there is no foam (use a blender) you get about 50g of protein and not only that but without to much info my bowel movements have been perfect far from what whey was like, and the egg + beef has a more compleat amino acid profile than whey with much more protein per scoop, love it!!! Goes Well With:egg protein powder
I purchased CarniPro as the vegan protein blend that I had previously purchased was unavailable in 1Kg. I figured why not, I'd had average protein powders before, how bad could it be? In my opinion, absolutely shocking. - Product doesn't mix. Regardless of whether with water, milk, almond milk. It stays in thick, gluggy masses. Making it absolutely revolting to drink when a huge bit of powder cakes your mouth and throat. - Tastes awful. Chocolate anyway. - Absolute nightmare to wash my protein shaker with. It gets stuck in the rim of the shaker and nothing but the most thorough scrubbing will get it out. Not at all suitable for rinsing or even a dishwasher. In over a decade of using protein powders, I can categorically say this is the worst product I have tried. Never ever again.Goes Well With:The bin
As a lactose-intolerant bodybuilder, this is my dream. I have strawberry, vanilla and chocolate (make more flavours please!) and even though the mixability can leave a little to be desired - that doesn't put me off. I have a nutribullet blender so I just whiz it in there for a few seconds and it's airy and smooth and delicious. I rarely drink shakes anymore though, I have this with my oats every morning instead. 2 scoops chocolate carnipro, oats, peanut butter and a coffee. OR my other favourite: 2 scoops carnipro vanilla, oats, cinnamon and steamed apple. Oh lawd. I've also whizzed the chocolate carnipro with frozen raspberries before and topped with some walden farms and it was absolutely beautiful. I actually love the taste, I don't know how anybody is getting a meaty vibe from it. All in all this makes it easy for me to hit my macros deliciously and beefily. No bloating whatsoever - and the added bonus of creeping out my colleagues by telling them I'm eating oats and beef for breakfast!
Taste - Chocolate tastes like salty, beefy chocolate. Mixability - Serious arm gains from all the shaking required and its super foamy and hard to drink! Solution? - YES! This works great if you add it to a blender. So usually I make up a post-workout shake of blueberries, protein powder and almond butter and I found that this protein both mixes and tastes better this way! In summary, it's great if you're super intolerant to dairy (though I am an the whey isolates by MP are fine) or if you're just looking for a change but it has to either be blended or coped with.Goes Well With:frozen banana, blueberries and almond butter in a blender - try it!!
Great apart from the fact that there is sometimes small chunks left over after shaking
Very bad taste (chocolate) and mixability. It completely block my shake. I hope the recovery will be ok.Goes Well With:nothing
I normally use 300ml of water with one scoop of CarniPro. This results in about 650ml of froff and a tiny amount of water mix at the bottom. Although this is still drinkable it can cause a bit of upset in your stomach (probably due to the air in the froff). In addition, about 10-15% of the powder will form lumps and not completely mix. If this powder was able to mix as a liquid like whey does and not froff up it would be an excellent alternative for those wanting dairy free. The taste is not bad at all (vanilla) but the product is let down by its mixability. I suppose this is a good fix for some looking for a non dairy protein powder but if you are having 3-4 shakes a day which some do (I used to have 3 a day) it will soon make you feel sick.Goes Well With:Just about water.
Great product; tastes great, mixes very good once you get use to the product, tends to foam a lot but just leave it to rest or drink as foam still tastes excellent.Goes Well With:Water
I read the reviews and decided to try anyway. Mistake. If you try and mix it with a small metal whisk in a glass like I did, all you will find is that it sticks to the whisk in a single clump and like tar to the edges of the glass. The stuff simply isn't water soluble unless you use something like an industrial blender and even then cleaning would be a nightmare.
Gluggy plastic/silicone texture if too much water and it coagulates very quickly into glug lump. Lovely taste. Shake perishable-wouldn't last pre-made in the fridge long as sour taste. I use water. Will buy again though. Perhaps more flavours..
Have had different types of protein from my protein for several years, but the mixability of this product make it close to impossible to drink. On mixing 2 scoops(I've tried 1) with water it bubbles/froths up to fill 50% of the shaker. Beef protein is great for recovery but this is issue needs to be resolved by myprotein.
Carnipro is an excellent alternative the standard whey. As whey makes me 'bloated' a friend advised me to try Carnipro and it was worth it. awesome product strength and definition have increased 10 fold within 4-6 weeks of using only issue is the mixability. I worked out a way to mix and found that this system works with all the different shakers mixers. put the water / milk in first then the protein and mix prior to work out, leave it to settle. Need to mention at this point it can be a bitty in that small pockets that don't mix but if you leave it, it will dissolve by the time the work out is finished and ready to drink with one final mix. Its nice and thick too the mixtureGoes Well With:milk and water
I have ordered first a sample pack of this product which convinced me to buy the bigger bag. Taste wise I would say it tastes nice and it has only a very-very slight aftertaste what is difficult to notice. When others say it is difficult to mix I have to admit it is true, but it is far not hopeless. I use my shaker with blander ball and I start to mix one scoop with about 2-3 dl of water and shake it for about 20-30 seconds. then live it for about 20-30 seconds to stand and I add about 1 more dl of water and shake it for an other 20-30 seconds. This way I managed to get rid of all the lumps. I found consistency just right, and the shake itself is quite filling. Did not upset my stomach which is great and I bloating less than with the whey products. Overall I would say it is a good choice just you have to figure out, how to get your perfect shake what you can really enjoy :) Hope this small review with my findings help you in your decision. I still say if you want to try this, order a sample, give it a chance and you'll see if you can use it or not.Goes Well With:L-Glutamin Aminogen Beta-Alanyne
Mixability could be improved but not too bad. Taste is poor in my opinion in comparison to Whey but not undrinkable (strawberry) I have rated effectiveness as 5 because I bought the product to replace whey as this was making me feel sick (possible intolerance) and it is a good replacment.
Very bad taste, poor mixability!!!horrible!!!don't buy this product!!!
This was my first time using a 'myprotein' product and I'm pleasantly surprised. This is a much more affordable alternative to 'muscle meds' carnivor. The taste is great, not very strong taste in general. No idea what people are talking about when they mention a beef aftertaste. I've tried a lot of different products and can honestly say this is one of the least offensive tasting. The mixability isn't great in shaker but I've had worse. Few extra shakes gets it almost right but I'll prob blend in my nutri bullet anyway. Can't really comment on effectiveness. But i like this product and would def buy again and recommend to anyone looking for a cheap yet quality non dairy protein shake. Goes Well With:Ice in a blender
Im so happy i found an alternative to whey protein , whey protein i seem to come out with acne but carnipro it seems to have got better and my skin is clearer! Taste wise chocolate is horrific its the first flavour i tried i felt dissapointed so i tried strawberry and WOW amazing taste, i was relieved that now i have found a protein that doesnt effect my acne like whey does!!! Effectiveness = Great!!! i can see size gains and noticed my strength has gone up , the worst thing is the mixability the protein goes really foamy when you use it with just water or milk BUT if you use with instant oats it doesnt go foamy at all so the solution for the foam use this protein with instant oats!!! :)Goes Well With:Instant Oats!
You mix it with an immersion hand blender in a second !
Bought a sachet of this as a tester, and to be honest I'm confused by all the poor reviews. I was expecting a lumpy, chocolatey beef drink, but that wasn't the case. Granted I gave it a bit more of a shake than usual (mesh cup) but it was no lumpier than whey. No beef aftertaste either.. No idea of effectiveness yet, but just thought I'd share the fact that it wasn't that bad.. Still quite happy with unflavoured whey so not sure if I'll be buying any more but certainly a good sub.Goes Well With:I mixed it with water and 8g of creatine.
I have tried many shakes and many brands, sadly this by far is the worst, the mix-ability is non existent so forget that the shake does not mix, because the shake does not mix you end up drinking a frothy lumpy sugary water tasting thing. I think its back to the drawing-board with this one. Even if your a dairy free protein drinker I am telling you this is not the one, find another shake.Goes Well With:people who were silly enough not to read the reviews.
Having recently switched to a Paleo diet, I was eager to find a decent source of protein powder, so I tried this. The taste isn't as bad as some say, but everything else is. The mixability is very poor (blender necessary). I got stomach cramps after my first drink, which didn't go away after 3 weeks. I eat a lot of beef, so I'm surprised to have such a bad time with this protein. Have since switched to MyProtein's hemp powder, which digests fantastically.
I would normally rate myprotein highly but this is a very poor product. The taste is probably the best thing about it. However, its still not great compared to whey's I've had in the past and in contrary to the youtube video on the product you're not going to miss the beef aftertaste. The mixability is atrocious there is consistently lumps and it foams up 2-3 times more than whey. As regards to effectiveness I think any gains it might have will be negated by the fact that if you take it regularly it will simulate mild food poisoning. The actual powder itself sticks to your fingers when you go to scoop it making it awkward to use. Add to this the fact that the bag didn't come properly sealed and there is absolutely no positive experience I have to take away from this purchase from what is normally a good provider of supplements.
I ordered the unflavored version of carnipro. Mixability? Moderate to poor. Can be mixed only with blender. Otherwise simply can not be mixed. Taste? The unflavored version reminiscent of burnt meat. If someone is very brave let's try. But if I want to be honest, I must admit that this protein is the only solution for someone who wants a non dairy protein. If someone wants to order must be ordered with some flavor.Goes Well With:Nothing
SO far is the best product I have found considering I cannot take conventional whey proteins due to intolerance. No bloating or adverse effects. Poor taste reports are ridiculous, if anything I would say this protein is sweeter tasting than other products from the range. No problems with taste at all. Mixability is not good but just buy yourself a blender! More convenient than a shaker anyway!
Purchased a sample packet in chocolate which I thought I'd try. Made it up with almond milk and peanut butter. Came out really smooth, no bad taste which I initially feared. It tastes really good and along with all the information regarding beef protein and it's benefits is a truly great product.Goes Well With:Almond milk and peanut butter
This isnt bad. I thought it would've been nasty but actually it tastes quite good. It doesn't mix that well it makes small globules of protein but the texture and flavour is fine. A decent replacement for dairy wheyGoes Well With:Instant oat
After ordering Carnipro and then reading some of the reviews, I got a bit worried that I'd made a mistake. I needn't have worried as although yes it is harder to mix than the whey equivalent, if you persist with the shaking it does eventually mix well. Maybe some people can't be bothered trying or something. I did find that it mixes better in a mesh bottle rather than one with a whisk ball. I have the banana and although it wont win any awards, it certainly tastes like banana. I find that I have less stomach problems while taking this as opposed to whey that makes me feel nauseous and bloated. I will definitely buy this again.
This product is full or protein and has other great attributes. I'm sure the gains will be good too. But it really doesn't mix well, I've used many wheys and in comparison just doesn't barely mix at al, it clogs my shakers, and leaves a powdery clumpy mess in everything else. but if your persistent you can get it mainly mixed and then just get it down. I drink this for nutrition not delightful mix ability. nobody ever took a vitamin tablet and then gave a culinary review, jesus! The taste of the strawberry is fine, just if I use less water it is hard to mix, but with more it becomes quickly very watery tasting. Anyway as I said, manageable, and definitely worth the problems.
I don't know what all the fuss is about. One scoop mixed fine for me in a shaker just add a bit more water. Slightly sticky and with a few lumps you can easily swallow, not a big deal. Taste is great, very banana like, didn't give me bad breath either. I will continue to use this as whey makes me acne go crazy.
Just recived this product. Opened the package and the smell was amazing, like whey protein (chocolate) - that was the good part. Then i mixed it in water, like they recommend - HORRIBLE! Milk/juice - same bad taste. Another bad thing is that it doesn't shake well, like really badly! Then the consistency, it's like a really thick gravy! Would rather crash on my bike, than recommend this product!
