Why did we design BCAA 4:1:1?
Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs) make up 35% of lean muscle mass. This makes them an essential element to anyone’s diet, but particularly for those who are training to build lean muscle mass. Although BCCAs are present in foods such as fish, chicken and steak, to get the same optimum dosage as BCAA 4:1:1 you would have to consume large quantities which would not only be extremely costly, but could also compromise your body composition.
How did we design BCAA 4:1:1?
BCAA 4:1:1 contains three of the 9 essential amino acids, Leucine, Isoleucine and Valine, in a 4:1:1 ratio. These are classified as essential amino acids due to the fact that your body is incapable of synthesising them itself and must therefore be consumed via dietary intake.
What are the Key Benefits?
BCCAs are unique in the fact that they are metabolised directly in the muscle to kick-start recovery. Other amino acids, such as Lysine, are metabolised via the stomach before reaching the muscle tissue. Now available in Berry Blast and Tropical flavours, BCAA 4:1:1 powders are easily mixed with water or juice, leaving a smooth great tasting supplement.
Is this Product for me?
BCAA 4:1:1 can be taken by any male or female athlete, bodybuilder or sports enthusiast who is looking to supplement their diet with additional BCAA’s.
When should I consume BCAA 4:1:1?
We recommend consuming 5g of BCAA (1tsp) before, during or after your workout for optimum benefits. Alternatively, consume anytime throughout the day to supply your muscles with essential amino acids.

Let's be honest, we all know why we're here. We know the effects of BCAA and we know it should be a staple in our supplement stacks, BUT if death had a taste, it would taste like BCAAs! Well, not anymore - I'd just about given up on raw BCAA powder, opting instead for capsules, but prohibitive costs forced me to reassess the powder situation. I'd heard this was a stomacable so gave it a try, just to be on the safe side, I ordered some extra just in case. Yeah I didn't need the extra flavouring! I mixed 20g with 1.5L of water (additional 20g of pepto pro as well) and started shaking, low and behold it wasn't soluble, foamed at the top and "here we go again", I thought. Got in the car, headed for the gym and by the time I'd got there (about 10 mins) the liquid was spotless! Everything dissolved perfectly. The taste is non existant (MyProtein's berry blast flavouring isn't the best in the world, but if this was the extent of my worries, I was happy). I kid you not, BCAAs are now, not only tolerable, but quite enjoyable. Top tip - add the water on top of the BCAA powder, shake and then let stand for 5 mins, shake again and you'll be good to go! Wizard!
Recently bought these after making the switch from regular BCAA powder. The 4:1:1 option is noticeably better for helping my aches and pains after hard gym sessions. Recovery is reduced a little more than the BCAA 2:1:1 for me personally and I've noticed a difference in reduced body fat % so I'm guessing this played a role with acetyl l-carnitine. I'd recommend starting with the 2:1:1 powder for beginners still, but when progress starts showing I'd definitely recommend changing to the 4:1:1 formula.
I got unflavoured as I hate the sickly sweet taste of sweetened supplements. WOW did these BCAAs taste bad! At first I wondered if it made my breath smell even! It doesn't mix in particularly easily either - I mix with water and it will take some good shaking to stop it from just sitting on the top there in an unattractive lump. Keep shaking and it eventually mixes in (or leave for a bit and shake again). Having said all this I did think this supplement was particularly effective. Perhaps it was psychosomatic but I felt like I was working out harder and more effectively when I used the BCAAs. I am small and find it hard to put on muscle and maintain weight, which is why I tried this product and my perception has been that they are effective and I would purchase again. im a regular lifter and always taken bcaas as part of my diet. I've found it has helped me with steady gains and I've not really had any complaints... However as the summer fast approaches and like everyone else I've started my shred phase, whilst trying to maintain size. Being a ' normal' lad, working shifts, not being able to get in meals every two hours or train at the same time every day is hard work and the final result we all look for seems impossible to achieve. However I recently purchased this product and I've not been disappointed.. I've found that taking this 4 times a day with meals and combined with my diet, supplements and training has given me the lean mass and look I'm aiming for. if you want to jump on the gains train, I'd recommend this product.. Well done my protein
I take 3 scoops pre workout, for me personally nothing else even comes close. I mix it in a small water bottle and shake the life out of it for 30 second's, seems to be the best way to make them mix up, taste is nothing to get excited about but I couldn't care less about the taste, just drink it and be done with it. Buy this and watch the gains, just make sure you have your diet in check and you will be good, clean bulking is way to go in 2016. Goes Well With:Perseverance
At first I wasn't sure about buying this, but eventually I've bought this product and man, I wasn't disappointed. I have gained some mass and my muscles are leaner and denser. I would recommend this to anybody who tries to get leaner muscles and muscle mass + it helps to keep muscle when doing cardio training. The only downside of this product is its taste and mixability, but this can be easily fixed by mixing the BCAA with protein powder or any type of other supplement. If your not sure to buy this product just go for it, you wont regret it.Goes Well With:Protein powder, dextrose, oats, fruit juice or water.
Product did exactly what it said on the website, so no complaints there. In fact, I am very impressed with its effectiveness. I went for the unflavoured option, and it tastes terrible! So if taste is a big issue for you I would recommend the berry blast. I just mixed it with a bit of water and chugged it like medicine.
Tastes a lot better than my last purchase and is actually quite palatable. Unsure about effectivenessGoes Well With:water and creatine
What can I say? This is highly effective and so glad I decided to get this one, I use 5g Pre workout and 5g post workout. Mixing it I use 300ml-350ml bottled water and I mix half the water in a jug with bcca 4:1:1 powder and press against the sides of the jug to get rid of any powdered bits floating and add the rest of the water and fill in a bottle to place in the fridge until I need it as I like really cold. The taste is lovely, not overpowering and didn't leave any kind of 'after' taste in my mouth. After doing a HIIT session I didn't feel fatigued and I suffer from really bad muscle soreness which kicks in just before 10pm, I can honestly say that after my workout and then having to go out to get some shopping and come back home to then straight away in the kitchen cooking for my husband and Lil one plus cooking my own meals and prepping some for today (Sunday) and Monday I was able to stand and finish off in the kitchen until 10pm!!!! I went to bed my legs weren't restless and achy and I woke up this morning (Sunday) without muscle soreness or stiffness. I ordered this Friday 8/4 and got next day delivery and after using for the first time and so immensely impressed I ordered a bigger bag! Give it a try and don't be put off by some of the other comments because I was initially and ordered tablets but this powder will be quicker acting in the body for recovery. Well done MyProtein great prices and always lots of offers keeps us loyal customers coming back!Goes Well With:plain water and ice
New to this product but it's really tasty (I chose berry flavour) and mixes well in a shaker. Will last ages too! Highly recommended.
It's the first time when I choose this BCAA 4:1:1 and after few days of servings I can say that it really helps me to recover after a hard workout, but also gives me energy and I feel in shape even after hitting legs day. My flavour is tropical blast and it's not bad at all.Goes Well With:Impact Whey Protein
Great product, great taste and ideal when on a calorie deficit/cuttingGoes Well With:Water
Get the BCAA as regular as possible, great in the gym &/or when I'm out on my bike. No issues, highly recommended!
I bought the so call unflavoured to mix with my shakes. No matter what you mix this with it has an overpowering Taste which is truly horrendous. How the Myprotein can sell this and expect people to drink it I'll never know, honestly have never tasted anything so bad before. Do not waste your money like me!Goes Well With:Nothing!
Do not order the unflavoured one under any circumstances, tastes disgusting!
Great taste and fantastic product. Can't recommend enough.
got the unflavoured version, kinda wish I hadn't, tastes like salt, however if mixed with some juice its ok, been on it three weeks and noticed a difference, would recommend
Been using BCAA 4:1:1 as a pre and intra works well less doms the next day,! I recently had acute food poisoning I was in bed for 4days couldn't stomach any food or my protein shakes was on rehydration salts and antibiotics I was worried about losing muscle mass and going catabolic because I couldn't eat anything fortunately I could still manage some fluids. I had 4 BCAA's drinks a day and hoped this would maintain my muscle mass and keep anabolic whilst not being able to eat. The following week I felt so much better if not a little tired I hit my gym and to my surprise my strength had not decreased at all And as for muscle mass no decrease in size lost a little fat though which isn't a bad thing. Overall great product even if you just buy a bag in case you ill sometime : )Goes Well With:Water
I have tried traditional 2:1:1 BCAAs and 8:1:1 of another brand however I have found that 4:1:1 BCAA have given me the best results. I have read a variety of information that there is no scientific research to show that a higher Leucine ratio is more effective but personally it appears to work for my body. I drink them throughout the day and have found that pre and intra they give me greater energy and endurance and with post workout they appear to aid my recovery very nicely. Taste gets a 5* as I like both the Tropical and Berry Blast Flavours and can drink them freely and as anyone who has ever tasted unflavoured BCAAs will know, anything that makes them taste less of pure evil is a good thing. However, be aware that the taste is strong so anything you add it to (e.g. protein shake, Greek yoghurt, etc.) will end up tasting of the BCAA flavour. The mixability dropped a mark as in a water bottle it appears that if you use water that is too cold (as it is from most water fountains in the gym) the mixture goes a little clumpy. But that's not really anything to complain about as they break up in the spout so I can tell you for sure I will continue to use this product. Goes Well With:Water, Protein or Greek Yoghurt.
Pros: I tried Berry Blast. Not too sweet. Taste isn't too overpowering. Cons: Doesn't mixes fine. You need to stir, wait before it sits down and stir it again 4-5 times.
