Overview

High in protein and low in fat Calcium Caseinate is a valuable ingredient in diet formulations, sports drinks, nutritional supplements and protein bars. Made from fresh skimmed milk, Calcium Caseinate is a spray-dried milk protein that is also low in sodium.

Our Calcium Caseinate is easily dispersed in water and forms a stable colloidal suspension with high opacity, it is also Instantised for easy mixing.

It contains extremely high levels of aminoacids, higher than both whey and soy isolate and could also help other proteins become more digestible by prolonging the time they spend in the intestinal tract.

Calcium Caseinate is a great protein to supplement with right before bed or if you know you won't be eating a high protein meal during the day as the protein synthesis will be notably slower than most other proteins. The recommended dosage for this effect is at least 30 grams of Calcium Caseinate in a serving. This will yield a high percentage of protein. Calcium Caseinate can be used to reach daily protein requirements easily.

The amino acid profile can be found at the bottom of the page under 'Certificates'.

If you are looking for a slowly digested protein (i.e. pre-bedtime) then we would recommend our Milk Protein Smooth as it is better tasting and designed to be used in nutritional drinks.

Key Benefits

  • Great source of slow absorbing protein
  • High in protein and low in fat
  • Made from fresh skimmed milk

I opened it and it smelt of Milk & Eggs! Once I mixed it was still a bit lumpy but next time I will add the powder in once I have added the water. It tasted okay but I put this down to incorrect mixing on my behalf. I woke up this morning without much aching from my muscles, which I normally do. Also I didn't have the empty feeling when I woke up which is good. I recommend this to anyone who is looking for lean gains and muscle mass

I'm not going to comment on taste and mix problems.....I'm just going to comment on my personal experience I've some problems with whey, it gives me some stomach pain and then I spend day "releasing wind", probably I'm a bit intolerant to whey.... BUT I don't have any problems with Caseine, also this protein gives me a "full stomach" sensation.

First off, let me praise the service of myprotein.com. I ordered my package from Denmark Wednesday, and received it on Friday. A+, especially when considering that I am ordering from abroad. Now regarding this product: Effectivenes: This stuff is amazingly effective for its purpose, to provide you with slow releasing protein during sleep. When you wake up you will not have the feeling of hunger or empty stomach. The muscle aches from workout will be decreased to some extent. Taste: My first impression was that it was awful, and after one sip I felt like throwing up. However through some trial and error I found out that it was not the taste which was bad, but the after-smell, which it left inside your mouth. To avoid it completely, just close your nose while drinking it and it will go down in no time. Mixability: Only blenders will do the work. As for the consistency, it is much thicker than whey isolate, and therefore mix it with plenty of water and a bit of cocoa powder for the best results right before sleep.

yes this does taste bad. but it works. personally to help it taste a little better i mix it with some sugar free milkshake powder you get from the supermarket.. actually isnt that bad then. i would say it has worked for me though, and isnt the main thing the results not the tatse?!

Awful product if you take it by itself and in water. Much better if taken with milk. I personally use it with whey protein to mask the flavour and the texture. Not a good product. If possible I would go for similar products which taste and mix much better and I think offer more, such as, Total Bedtime or Total Milk and Whey
  • Goes well with which Myprotein products:
At least 1/3 ratio of Calcium Casseinate+other flavoured protein (I tried with Whey chocolate)

I brought this product for a 2 week PSMF and its awesome. It mixes very thick compared to whey and is very satiating so good if your cutting up. Add ice, sugar free nesquick and some berries and youve got a healthy alternative to McD's Milkshake that tastes better.recomended

Taste was awfull... I generally dont care about the taste but this... just awfull! But well price is affordable compared to other brands. I would personally try similar ones like "Bedtime Extreme" or such then this as taste was awfull... well if u have got the capability to fade the taste then purcahse it because I will finish the pouch even though the bad taste

I add a little honey and smooth peanut butter to mask the taste. I use a blender to get it mixing better, and it's fine. I mix with water instead of milk as I'm lactose intolerant-ish. I try to follow with a glass of water immediately before bed and first thing as I find this product can dry me out. I've always found it hard to put on lean mass, or fat, or anything, and this product feels like it helps more than whey protein.

If you want a steady release of protein throughout the night (when your sleeping) this is just what you are looking for. Once mixed together with skimmed milk it does have a slight gritty consistency but is still easy to drink, and does not bother me at all. And you may sound surprised but I actually like the taste of it, also it does the job it is intended for perfectly, I wake up in the morning not feeling hungry, also my recovery times have improved. I would recommend this to anyone.

First of all, it really doesn't mix well. It takes quite a bit more effort to remove all the clumps, and it's nigh undrinkable when mixed with milk - it actually becomes so thick it's more like yoghurt. It doesn't taste very nice, but that's not really a problem, as I got used to that. However, I did really notice a difference in being less achy when I woke up.

If you like cottage cheese you will like this, If you don't like or hate cottage cheese you will probably dislike the taste of this. Personally I don't care for cottage cheese, but I find 30g of this with 400ml of water is bareable, any more and I think I would puke. Having said that, the protein content is very good and great for bedtime, I do prefer the taste of bedtime extreme and find it alot easier to drink, but the equally the taste of that isn't great either. But this is what we do for muscle! sacrifice... So just buy it and down it!!!

Don't get me wrong this product works. My recovery time has improved incredibly, so much less aching and muscle tiredness. Allows you to hit the gym hard the next day without worrying about overdoing it. However once mixed it tastes like your trying to drink a pint of water mixed with sand or chalk. My advice is blend it with some milk, a bit of flavoured whey then drink it as quickly as possible. It just doesn't mix that well at all, lots of suspended sediment. But being realistic protein first, taste second.
  • Goes well with which Myprotein products:
Instant Whey or any other productes which would hide the texture!

Overall its a great product espeically since eating cottage cheese before bed can not only be costly however it contains more calories. I prefare to mix this with little water and stir until it forms yoghurt like texture. It tastes like powdered milk but with less flavour, its also very filling!

For those with a slightly larger budget n who are lactose intolerant n are looking for a slow release protein this is great option. Only 5quid more than the milk protein but its 100% casein instead of a 80/20blend. I have no complaints protein content is a solid 27-28 perscoop. As with most casein's it doesnt mix as well as whey, mixing in a blender or with the cheap mp blender bottle works well. Although arguably sources like yogurt/cottagecheese/milk are excellent sources of casein as well its important to remember that u often take casein before bed, and to get 28g of protein from milk/yogurt ud have to drink slightly more than a pint which means u'll constantly be waking up to use the toilet at night which disrupts sleep. Best mixed with 200ml milk before bed for a solid slow release throughout the night. Its not tough/not fair to judge the products effectivness since u dont experience any dramatic effects like with creatine for example. Nonetheless a very good product and i will be using this as my main prebedtime meal

I started using this about 5 weeks ago, and my weight has gone up by at least 10 pounds. From what I feel, I think this stuff is effective, however if you mix it with water, you'll be lucky to keep it in your stomach. For those complaining about it foaming up, try starting off with 100-150ml of milk, add the powder, shake, then add the rest of the milk.

Doesn't tend to mix well, left small lumps usually, taste is a 5 since it's unflavoured so I can't rate it on that. Makes very thick shakes though, leaves you feeling very full.

This is one of 3 types of protein I get from MP. (The other 2 are the whey concentrate and milk concentrate). This is my favourite of the 3 in terms of the taste and thickness. As some of my meals I consume are shake-based it is nice to drink something with a bit of thickness to it like this as it seems more of a meal.

Not as bad tasting as a few seem to be dramatising. Add a spoonful of milkshake powder if you struggle with the taste. Besides that it does what it says on the tin, a slow-releasing protein best used overnight

Not bad at all if you like the taste of baby sick . But you get used to it after a while . The only downside is it aint flavoured . Have a shake before bed and you feel sound in the morning no hunger pangs . Would get a higher rating if it was flavoured .

I have started using this as it's known for building protein throguh the night. It mixes well in a shaker or blender and is good value for money. My 'pre-bed' protein shake includes powders that only really mix in blenders, so I have to mix this up early to avoid annoying the neighbours with my blender and then stick it in the fridge. Whilst in the fridge this supplement causes my shake to get VERY thick (almost as thick as a milkshake from a fast food vendor!) and does take a little away from the taste of the other protein powder I put in. I would add more milk but I don't like to be full of liquid before bed. A good (and probably key) supplement though all in all and I am sure I will buy more once this runs out.

Try having a glass of milk, cheese on toast and some melatonin if you have a fast metabolism as well. I made the mistake of having whey before bed. GH levels should rise. Be sure to make sure you cholestrol doesn't go through the roof though!\n

Mix this with a shaker cup with at least 500mL of liquid. That way it won't fuzz up. Add some milk type flavouring, ie. choc, van, strawberry and it's a fine protein shake. A little bit of milk doesn't hurt with it either.

i tried this, it makes an excellent thick shakes without having to thicken it with added extra cost of bananas or oil, ( much better than watery shakes with whey). This also makes a good thick shake even with added water only. It fills you up without having the hunger feeling you get with watery shakes, which dont even fill you up. I add 2 tea spoons of mollases to add tatse or honey with a liittle 100% pure cocoa powder to give it a chocolaty taste. Try adding 2 or 3 square chunks of fruit and nut chocolate bar and mix with blender. If you want your whey shakes to be thick i recommend adding 50% Calcium Caseinate

I have been a devotee of MP bulk whey for some time now, but I wanted a pre-bedtime slow digesting protein. So I tried this.\r\n\r\nMy first attempt was a disaster. I mixed it with water in much the same as I would with whey. The casein became so thick thick that it was mighty difficult to get the stuff down without it coming straight back up again! The longer you leave it before drinking it, the thicker it gets. The taste was pretty horrible as well even when I added milkshake powder.\r\n\r\nI persevered for a couple nights but then tried a diffferent approach. I used one and a half scoops in a pint glass. I topped it up with semi-skimmed milk and added some sugar-free Crusha milkshake syrup. Success. OK, it's not something that you'd look forward to but it is far more palatable, with a better texture.\r\n\r\nIt takes a bit of mixing but it's great to know that I'm getting a good supply of overnight protein. It's well worth the effort - and the price is pretty good as well.

One thing you will need is a nuclear powered blender to mix it properly, it's certainly EXCELLENT value for money compared to the Boots-Complan version 'Casilan 90' at £6.99 for a mere 250gm! Excellent product,

It was never going to be outstanding, but a Mix-ability of two and a half and taste of two on this, really is a little on the harsh side. It isn't that bad at all, unflavoured and unsweetened. (And myprotein.co.uk you offer aspartame as a sweetener? Really, you should know better) \r\n\r\nOkay, the taste isnt fantastic by any stretch of the imagination and it certainly isnt yum, yum it's time for my pre-sleep shake, but it doesnt taste bad, it's more an absence of any taste. \r\n \r\nAs far mix-ability, again it isn't great, but a decent shaker and plenty of water no problem. For my 3am, with one scoop of concentrate / two scoops of caseinate, mixes fine and doesnt settle out. \r\n\r\nFor pre-sleep I cant think of a better product and if the score is putting you off, dont let it. \r\n
